About BRIGHTality
BRIGHTality is a Vermont Agency of Education approved Special Education Day School. BRIGHTality is organized to provide alternative avenues to obtaining a high quality education to students with a qualifying disability. These students grow in knowledge, skills, and character in order to become independent and fulfilled as individuals who participate in society. In addition to students with a documented disability, we provide educational services for any student who would benefit from our school. As an independent school with a low teacher-to-student ratio, we offer creative and innovative services to meet student needs so they can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
BRIGHTality was started in 2014 as a means of reaching students who hadn't yet found their stride socially, emotionally, or academically. BRIGHTality was built on the premise that everyone can and will succeed when their basic needs are addressed prior to placing other expectations on them that, in the moment, feel irrelevant. BRIGHTality approaches all students with hospitality showing them care, concern, and respect all while maintaining their dignity. Relationships are at the core of our educational strategy and all wins, no matter the size, are recognized victories.
BRIGHTality provides various avenues for learning to include community based opportunities, work study opportunities in career driven fields, small group settings, 1:1 settings, as well as a sense of more traditional classes. We work hard to make sure that all students attending BRIGHTality are provided the same opportunities as students in a public school setting such as, high school prom, graduation ceremonies, open house events, filed trips, and community integration to name a few, to drive home the idea that alternative isn't less.
